Configuring the main navigation menu

Last updated on Dec 05, 2025

You can rearrange the main menu on the left of your system according to your preferences:

Go to Settings > Main Navigation Menu (only available for "admin" users)

Drag and drop existing menu items to reorder them or nest them as sub-items under another menu item:

Click on an existing item to edit the details of the menu entry (or use the "Add New" button to define details of a new item).

There are two modes of menu items (see below).

(1) Menu item from a "Record Type"

You can select any existing record type from the dropdown. This adds an automatic menu item which links to the list of records of that type. The icon and label of the menu item are set automatically from the record type.

When you select a record type, the other (manual) configuration fields get disabled and hidden for that menu item.

(2) Menu item manually defined:

Alternatively, you can add "special" menu items by configuring the menu label/text and link manually. A few special screens, like the dashboard, can be selected from the dropdown as a "Link" target.

For advanced uses, you can also switch the "Link" configuration to define a custom link manually, using the button to the right of the "Link" field. Defining a valid link like this requires some technical understanding, however. This is only necessary in advanced cases if you want to open some selected record or special view:

To create a new link, open Aam Digital in a new tab, go to the desired record type, copy everything after ‘https://.aam-digital.app/’, and paste it here as the link target.
