Canary

What is Canary Mode in Minds? The Minds Canary is a public beta release of Minds that allows users to test out new features and updates before they are released to the general public, similar to a "beta" version of software. To report issues in the canary mode, you can join the Canary Group and also the Canary Chat group. How do I turn on Canary Mode? 1. Click More in left sidebar 2. Click "Canary Mode" on the bottom of the menu 3. You will then be brought to a page where you may choose to enable Canary mode, or read more about it. What is the purpose of the Minds Canary? The purpose of the Minds Canary is to allow users to test new features and updates before they are available to the general public, helping to work out any issues before the official release. Why is it called Canary Mode? The name "Canary Mode" is inspired by the practice of coal miners sending canaries into mines to signal early warnings for obstacles ahead. Turning on Canary Mode in Minds helps users test out new features and identify any potential issues before they impact the larger community.

Settings

Account - General Account Settings - Profile: This allows you to view and edit your Minds profile information, including your display name, bio, profile picture, and cover photo. About editing your profile. - Email Address: This is where you can view and edit the email address associated with your Minds account. - Language: This lets you change the language used on the Minds platform. - Password: Here, you can change your Minds account password. - Boosted Content: This is where you can view and manage Boost settings. About Boost - NSFW Content: You can use this setting to hide or display NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content on your account. - Share Buttons: This allows you to enable or disable the social share buttons on your posts. - Autoplay Videos: Here, you can choose to enable or disable autoplay for videos on your Minds feed. - Messenger: This setting lets you turn on or off the Legacy Minds Messenger feature. - Nostr: You can enable or disable the Nostr feature on your account. - Notifications (More about notifications) - Push Notifications: This setting allows you to enable or disable push notifications for your Minds account. - Email Notifications: Here, you can choose which email notifications you want to receive from Minds. Notifications

You can get three kinds of notifications on Minds: 1. Push notifications: Notifications received on your phone, or as a popup on your desktop. To control your push notifications settings, go to the push notification settings page. 2. In-App notifications: These are notifications you can view in the app (by clicking the bell icon). 3. Email notifications: You can opt in to email notifications; the notifications you’ll receive on your email. To opt into those notifications, go to the email notification settings page. There are a variety of ways to receive notifications on Minds; you may opt in for in-app notifications, push notifications, or email notifications. Visit our settings page to adjust your notification settings. Minds Chat

What is Minds Chat Minds chat is a chat app forked from the Matrix chat. Some of capabilities of Matrix are restricted in Minds Chat, for example the calls and federation. To learn more about how to use Matrix chat, you can use this link. How do I log into the chat? You need to use OICD option to log into Minds chat, which means, log in using your Minds.com credentials. How do I start a new conversation? To start a new chat, click the + button at the right side of the sidebar menu and enter the username of the user you wish to chat with. You may select multiple users to create a group chat. start_chat.png...Or from mobile, like this chat_mobile.pngYou may also create a new room by clicking the + button next to Rooms, from mobile, by toggling the # symbol at the bottom right of the app homescreen. How do I create a private room? To create a private room, hit the + icon in the lower left corner of the screen, next to Rooms and follow the prompts Favorites To add a user to your list of favorites, open the ellipses menu associated with their Chat presence and select Favorite from the dropdown menu How can I tell if I have an Unread Message? If you have an unread message, a notification will be shown next to the relevant user. You may also see a red notification indicating a user has requested to chat with you. You may set your notifications to chime every time you receive a notification by going to Notifications and Settings, accessed by pulling down the dropdown menu to the right of your avatar.
