First Device Setup: Creating Your First Wallet
Welcome! This guide will walk you through the process of creating your first wallet on your ERA Wallet hardware device. Follow each step carefully to set up your device securely and correctly.
💡 At any point during setup, you can tap the (i) info icon on the device screen to read detailed information about the current step.
1. Device Preparation
Before creating a wallet, make sure you have completed the following:
-
Firmware Update — Install the latest Main Firmware if your device currently has Initial Firmware.
-
Authenticity Check — Complete the authentication process as described in the previous chapter.
-
Device charged — Make sure your device has enough battery to avoid interruptions during setup.
Once completed, your device is ready for wallet creation.

Standard — recommended for beginners. Includes helpful on-screen guidance at every step and a simple backup system: ERA Recovery Card and paper backup as an option.
Expert — for advanced users. Offers additional features such as Shamir backup and ERA-Card Multishare backup. On-screen guidance is disabled and settings are more advanced.
💡 Tip: For your first wallet, we strongly recommend choosing Standard.
-
After selecting Standard mode, you will see informational screens explaining:
-
Where your crypto assets are stored
-
What private keys are
-
How and why entropy is collected
-
Advanced backup using an ERA Card
-
How ERA Wallet works
-
3. The device will automatically generate your wallet's private keys (For Standard mode) OR Generating a Private Key (Entropy Collection) (For expert mode)
The device collects random data from various sensors to generate your private key. Follow the on-screen instructions for each step.

💡 Store the card in a safe place, separate from your device, to ensure you can recover your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.
⚠️ If an error occurs during recording, press back and try again. The error is most likely caused by the card being positioned incorrectly or disconnected too early. If the error persists after several attempts, contact support.
