What is boost?

Boost is the in-house ad network on Minds, a way for you to gain views on your content from the network in exchange for Minds tokens or USD. It is secure, anti-surveillance. Multiple different types of Boost exist:

  • Newsfeed - Newsfeed boosted posts are every twelfth post in the Newsfeed

  • Sidebar - Sidebar boosted posts run along the right column of the Newsfeed

  • Channel - Chanel boosts run along the right column of the Newsfeed

How do I Boost a post?

To boost a post on Minds, follow these steps:

  • Go to the post you want to boost.

  • Click the boost button if it’s your post, or the three-dot menu icon on the top right corner of the post and click on "Boost Post".

  • Choose the amount you want to boost for, and the number of days you want the boost to run.

  • Click on "Boost Post" to confirm and start the boost.

How do I Boost a channel?

To boost your channel, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to your channel

  • On your channel page, click on the "Boost" button located in the top right corner, next to the Edit Profile button.

  • Choose the amount you want to boost for, and the number of days you want the boost to run.

  • Click on "Boost Post" to confirm and start the boost.

How can I buy Boost?

You can buy Boost with Minds tokens or cash.

How much does Boost cost?

Boost does not have an exact price, but you can bid on your boosts. The bidding system works by allowing advertisers to set a maximum bid amount for each Boost, and the Boost is then promoted to users based on the bid amount.

What are views?

Views are the number of times your content has been displayed to other users. The views are counted as the Boost crosses another community members’ screen.

What are Boost categories?

We have two boost categories, Safe and Controversial. We have established them, for better targeting of boosts for users.

Who will see my Boosts?

Your Boosts will be shown to the people, who have opted in to see the Boosts from the given category.

Why can’t I edit or delete my post?

While a post is being promoted, we don’t allow it to be edited. If you need to take any action on your post, you can wait until the promotion period ends.

Can I have more than one active Boosts?

You can have as many Boosts active as you want, you don’t have to wait for one to finish before starting another.

Where is my Boost going to be displayed?

We allow two different places for Boosts. Feed Boosts, which are in the Boost rotator on top of your feed, and then every 6th post in the feed. The channel boosts may also appear in the recommended channels section in Newsfeed. Sidebar boosts are profile boosts that are shown in sidebars.

How are Boosts moderated?

Boosts are currently reviewed by our moderation team. We would like to eventually empower the community to moderate boosts via Jury.

How long does it take for Boosts to be approved?

They should be approved within an hour, but sometimes a delay of up to a day can happen.

How will I know that my Boost has been approved?

You will get a notification and an email about your boost starting. Alternatively you can look into your boost console, here.

Why was my Boost rejected?

We have multiple rejection reasons:

  • Wrong audience: This happens when you submit the boost into the safe category, but it should be in the controversial boost category.

  • Against Minds Boost policy: The boost is against our boost policy

  • Against Stripe terms of service: For cash boosts, we need to uphold Stripes’ terms of service

  • Payment failed: The payment has failed

  • Reported: The boost has been approved and running, but it has been reported by the userbase.

Does Minds store my credit card information?

No, Minds does not store your credit card information. The credit card information is stored at Stripe, the payment provider we’re using.

Can I ask for a refund?

No, approved boosts are non-refundable. However, if your boost has not yet been approved, you can cancel it.

What counts as a view?

A view is defined by a post passing through the center of someone's screen.

How do I track the status of my Boost?

Status of the boosts can be seen in the Boost console.

Can I hide boosted content?

Yes! If you are a Plus member, you can disable boosted content. To disable boosts as Minds+ user, you can navigate to Settings > Account > Boost, and locate “View boosted content” option (alternativelly, go here).
