Device Management: Updating Firmware After Device Setup

Firmware updates keep your ERA Wallet secure, reliable, and up to date with the latest features and blockchain standards. ERA Wallet updates use NFC — a short-range communication standard — which ensures that only devices in close proximity can exchange data. This makes the process secure and tamper-resistant, protecting your device from interception while keeping it offline. On the Device 1. Turn on the device by short pressing the physical button. 2. Unlock the device. 3. Press the hamburger menu button in the top-left corner. 4. Open Settings and select Updates. 5. Press Update. 6. Review the on-screen instructions prompting you to open the ERA Wallet mobile application, then press Next. On the Mobile App 1. Open the ERA Wallet mobile application. 2. Navigate to Updates and tap Update. 3. When the app starts searching for an NFC connection, tap Next on the device to begin the update process. Positioning the Phone (NFC) 1. The device will display an animation showing how to place your phone. 2. The device's NFC antenna is located on the bottom half of the device. iPhone users: The NFC antenna is located at the top of the phone. Place the top half of the iPhone against the bottom half of the device, exactly as shown in the animation. Android users: NFC antenna placement varies by model. Adjust the phone position until the NFC connection is detected. During the Update 1. Once the phone is correctly positioned, the firmware update will start automatically. 2. Do not move or lift the phone during the update process. 3. Keep the phone in place until the mobile app displays Success. ⚠️ Important for iPhone users: You may see a notification at the bottom of the screen repeatedly appearing and disappearing. This does not mean the connection is lost. iOS limits NFC sessions to a few seconds, and the app automatically reconnects. Do not move the phone under any circumstances once the update has started. The update is complete only when the mobile app confirms Success.

Settings Overview Updates Manage software updates for the device. You can update: - Main Firmware — controls wallet management and core device functionality - Bootloader — responsible for securely updating and verifying the main firmware - EraLens — a database of smart contracts and APIs used for transaction parsing and decoding Keeping all components up to date ensures security, compatibility, and correct transaction interpretation. Display Manage screen behavior and power consumption: - Front Light — adjust brightness for use in low-light environments - Auto-Lock Time — set how long the device stays unlocked when inactive - Auto Power-Off Time — define when the device fully powers off 🔋 Power tips: Higher brightness increases power consumption.
